Our Story
Purity. Pride. Intention.
VASAA Atelier was founded in Chennai as a house for Indian cloth that refuses haste. We work with weavers, embroiderers and tailors whose families have kept a craft alive — Banarasi, Kanjivaram, Chanderi, chikankari, zardozi — and we cut those textiles for the way women and men live now.
The brand name is a quiet Sanskrit echo of dwelling: a place one returns to. The atelier is that place — for a bridal Banarasi, a linen kurta, a pashmina folded into a trunk.
Craftsmanship
Every piece begins on a loom or in a workshop, not on a trend board. Zari is real metal thread. Borders are woven, not printed. Embroidery is counted by hand. We edit slowly, produce in considered quantities, and keep a record of the cluster each textile comes from.
Luxury, for us, is not excess. It is the time a weaver spends on a pallu, and the decision not to rush it.
Our Artisans
We partner with weaving families in Varanasi and Kanchipuram, Chanderi clusters in Madhya Pradesh, chikankari karigars in Lucknow, and jewellery ateliers that still set kundan by hand. Relationships are seasonal and long. We pay for craft, not for volume alone.
When you wear Vasaa, you wear a geography of Indian making.
